Women's Issues Committee
Time & Location
About the Event
The LWVPBA invites you to attend the Women's Issues Committee, Interest Meeting, to be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at 6:00 PM. We have had several members of the League express interest in reformulating the Women's Issues Committee, and in response, I've been asked to chair the committee.
We would like to see as many members as possible, who are interested. We have already received many suggested topics and areas of interest for the Committees' consideration and we know that many more issues exist that have not yet been proposed. Therefore, you are invited to continue sending additional suggestions up to the meeting date to email@example.com and also copy Jane Spruill on your email.
Also, as you are aware, Women's History Month is on the horizon and we might wish to consider an offering of some type during the month of March. There is a possibility that we could schedule a Saturday morning talk or short program, a movie screening of a film like "Iron Eagle" or find some other way to highlight women by the end of March. If that seems too soon, we might partner with another organization that already has a program scheduled, such as "Pen Women, who will be co-hosting Dr. June Cartwright, a former Blues Singer, who speaks around the country on the impact made by Women Blues Singers historically, and particularly during the Civil Rights Movement. That Zoom talk is scheduled for Sunday, March 14, 2021 at 2:00 PM.
Most of all, we hope that many of you will log in to the Zoom Interest Meeting and share your past experience with the committee and/or your future hopes and expectations for what this Committee can accomplish.
